Alright! We've finally got our RX7!
Open to naming ideas for her - but if no one has any better ones, I suggest ‘Brap brap.’

Sporty form and high power. A pure sports car with a rotary engine that pursues engine performance.
Now, what is it that makes this car unique, other than its very beautiful looks? And why are all the car nerds in the thread saying brap brap a lot?
That is because the Mazda RX series do not have traditional, cylinder / piston / rod engines like almost every other combustion engine in existence.
They had rotary, or ‘wankel’ engines. I won't go into detail about how they work - I know you guys would like to explain, and would do a much better job than I ever could, but for the purposes of the Let's Play it's worth noting they were able to get tremendous amounts of power out of relatively little displacement and particularly important - they make brap brap sounds.
What color car should I buy? Red, black, yellow
Of course, we want banana yellow - the quintessential colour of the FDRX7!

Would you like to trade your car?
The game once again gives us the option to sell our current car. It probably would free up a bunch of cash for more modifications - but for now, let's just keep Mouthbreather just in case. It seems unlikely we need more than one at this stage, but the last game did all sorts of things to shake it up towards the end game. Also, are we really car guys if we don't have a bunch of half finished project cars as lawn ornaments?

:
thank you very much. The car is maintained and kept in the garage

:
Tune Roulette. Would you like to try it? Yes / No
Oh! I forgot about this. Free car tunes! Yo DJ, spin that wheel!

:
Congratulations! You won the CPU tune-up and bore-up!
Alright! What extraordinary luck to keep getting the double tune bonus. It's almost as if someone was reloading save states until they got a good outcome.

:
We'll install it right away.

:
Thank you
Well, we got a few tunes for free. Let's see what else we can afford.

There's 1,194,200 yen left after buying the car. We'll start by buying light-weighting and aero tuning, which should leave 424,200 left.
Now it's time to pull all the performance parts off the GT4 and place them on the RX7, just like we did with the MX5 in the first place.

Wait a minute? There’s no parts here!
This is very odd.
If I look at the MX5, the parts are there…

This isn’t some weird rotary compatibility thing is it?
Let’s go back to the store and find out...

:
Our parts are for 2000cc class or larger. It only fits cars. Please be careful
I was just thinking how amusing it is that you can universally fit all your parts across all models, and the game decided to prove me wrong. I guess it makes sense for balance reasons.
The canonical reason we can't reuse parts on this (presumably) final tier of cars is that they are ‘2000cc and up’. Thing is, the RX7 is actually 1300cc. I guess they count it because of its awesomeness and unconventional engine.
Though come to think of it, both the Celica GT-4 and MR2 are both 1998cc. Two cc’s off the limit. Where's the justice?
In actuality, a better differentiator between these final cars, the Supra, 300ZX and Skyline from those that came before it, is that they're all 6 cylinders. Except of course, for the RX7. But we’ll forgive it because of the Wank(el) factor
Anyway, with our remaining 400k, it's time to look if there's any decent parts we can afford for it.

It seems the only thing we can afford is the small turbo… given the car is supposed to have twin turbos naturally, we'll keep the cash for now.
Anyway, let’s see how she performs on the track!

Whoopsie. I accidently chose our unmodified MX5… this keeps happening, as it auto selects the last car you looked at.
...We're going to get slaughtered….

Well that was embarrassing. 10.62 vs 14.42.
But I learned something at least. It seems that the Street Races are scaled to where you are in the game, so we won't get suitable opponents for old Arm anymore.
Let's try that again with Brap Brap.

Well, that wasn't much better. The tunes we haven't aren't enough - we're going to need more parts.
Time to head home and relax... Next time we're going to need to be pulling many more work shifts if we want enough cash to fully spec this girl out...
