Now, a few pages back. Taro told the witch lady that he'd given up on women and was instead focused on becoming rich.

: Kekekekeke I'll become the richest man in the world and get back at all the women out there!

To help Taro realize his goal, we're going back into Kowloon Walled City and see if we can't unlock some of the upper floors.

This time around let's choose some… other… party members. Preferably ones without silver balls.

Marian’s speciality seems to be healing, and since Taro has now evolved healing abilities of his own, I think we can choose Akane the ninja kid and Mudo the warrior monk.

With the level 4 elevator unblocked now, we make our way to the stairs and up to level 5….

To start with, Akane and Mudo are fairly green, like Shoko and Silver Ball Dad were at the start, needing Taro to do the majority of the damage. Quite quickly, like Shoko, and entirely unlike Silver Ball Dad, they start to level up. It helps that they can actually equip many of the higher tier items we find along the way.

They also have quite a few new powers at their disposal. Akane has three magic powers!

It seems she has the same water technique that Shoko had, and one that looks like a fireball, and something that looks like a ghost…

The fireball seems particularly effective at burning the latest variant of the ballerinas - the ‘Prima Donnas’

Let’s see what happens with the ghost.

Using it appears to confuse enemies so they can't attack the next round.

Mudo doesn't have a lot of powers yet, but he also appears to have a slightly different ghost thing!

Look at this little happy guy. I wonder what he does…

Oh my Jesus!

It seems to summon a HR Geiger monster!

We continue to battle our way through the next few floors fighting enemies old and new.

On these levels it seems we're having more run-ins with the local triads…

And of course, we discover the usual suspects who are really behind it all...

Best to kill them with lightning…

But it's not all aliens, wild animals, triads, policemen and politicians that roam the streets of Kowloon Walled City…

We're also faced with the challenge of the Cool Gal and her wiggle attack…

Along the way we find new weapons. Whilst Akane and Taro can use swords and daggers, the Mudo the monk uses staff and magic wands.

The cool gal was guarding an item called ‘The Sleep Wand'. Mudo can put it to good use...

It's quite powerful! Hitting one guy will make all his friends sleep.

Things start to get a bit... ghoulish on level 6.

It seems we've moved on from the corrupt politicians, and instead have discovered the people whose votes are being counted for them, like the corpse and the mummy man.

These two guys were guarding an item called '5,000 cash cows'…

I have no idea what this does. I initially thought this was a mistranslation of finding money in the chest, but no, 5,000 cash cows are an equippable item.

Unfortunately none of our current party equip it though… Maybe it’s the one thing Silver Ball Dad can use?

We also find another item that no one in our current party can equip:

As is the nature of this game, I'm not entirely sure whether this would be more fitting for Shoko to wear, or whether this one is the actual only thing Silver Ball Dad can actually wear!

(edit: I looked this up after, and I was correct. Shoko can wear the swimsuit and Silver Ball Dad can wear the “Cash Cow’ - which translated the second time to the (slightly) more understandable ‘Cash Box Head’.... you know, given the fact he has pachinko balls on his head.

As we clear out level 6 and unlock the elevator, I think it's a good time to call it for the day.

We don't want to risk losing half the pay again.

: Hey, good work.

: Here's today's part time job pay.

: It's 2,160,600 yen.

Damn! That is a great payout. I don't think we're going back to parking cars anytime soon….
