Last we left off, we were shot, left for dead and had half of our wages stolen from us by our boss.

If we were smart, we’d never take that risk again.

… On the other hand we really need that cash for another turbocharger…

… I guess we're going back in!

This time around, I've discovered something new. When in the overhead exploration mode, you can hit a button and see your account inventory.

Noticeably, we have all those items we bought for our not-girlfriend, including a very pretty floral handkerchief. I guess she didn't actually take them.

I had thought these would be used for dating, but it appears we can equip them all for battle, and they seem to add a buff on our attacks.

I'm sure our future girlfriend won't mind if we use her diamond ring as a weapon to beat the hell out of people, right?

Now our enhanced attack power and floral style, we're able to make our way through the first floor and have our revenge against The Thug.

With all rooms explored, we can return to the lift, and choose between leaving, banking the money we've earned thus far and avoiding the risk of losing half in medical fees, or we can try another floor and continue our streak.

Our sexy jewelry has got us feeling lucky, so let's take the risk and go to the second floor!

At first glance this floor looks largely the same, though increasingly more ‘maze’ like, with less connected rooms and more obtuse walkways.

And within these walkways we run into some new enemy types...

The Sewer Rat is a nastier version of the mouse we defeated earlier. He's a little stronger and has more powerful bite, but he still squishes the same way when we clobber him with a stuffed bat.

Similarly the Burglar is a more powerful, more blue version of the Thief, with bright green eyes and a yellow tongue.

I guess the aliens have mostly given up on pretending to look human.

And we can't forget The Eaves Man, who is definitely not just the Delinquent with his sunglasses removed and white robes.

Not every enemy type is a re-skin however. We also come across The Merchant of Death which is probably the most metal sounding name thus far.

He's a pretty tough cookie, and gets quite a few hits in on us. But after slamming a few energy drinks and maintaining our health, we’re able to take him out of the game.

As we continue through the level, Taro continues to gain experience and level up, increasing his health and attack powers, and things tend to become a little easier as a result.

Soon enough the game has new roadblocks for us, including multiple enemies in the same battle!

This was the first time I used the Run Away function, which works as you might expect in one of these games. You roll for a chance to flee, and if successful, you skip the battle.

As we discussed more rooms and chests the loot starts becoming a little more varied too. In this one I found 100k yen.

In another, I found a Back Pain Corset

This appears to be an armour item that boosts our defence.

Similarly I found a Hard Hat that can be worn.

It's unfortunate that these items aren't cosmetic. I'd love to see what Taro looks like with his corset, hard hat and women's jewelry.

Finally, we run into the floor boss: a Fake Security Guard.

His attacks are pretty weak, but he seems to have a lot of HP. However, with enough beating with our baton, he goes down just like everyone else. He was much easier than the last floor boss.

…Errr. Now that I think of it … That guy was certainly dressed very professionally, especially compared to Taro, who purports to be a legit security guard, but is wearing a hooded sweatshirt and backwards cap.

…Are we sure that guy was not a real guard?

What was he guarding anyway?

: I got a Bamboo Sword

Oh ho ho! This will come in handy!
