there's a whole genre of those kinds of drawings for car manuals as well, it must have been A Thing in Japan in the 1980s-early 1990s. Will have to dig further.
Yes! My father has the original Japanese owner manuals that came with his MR2 and it's great to see the little chibified drawings of the cars and what to do / what not to do. I'll have to get them off him and scan them one day, it seems people covet these things and don't scan them online.
