Isnt salt lake where the land speed record was broken? Go there
Partially relevant story time!
About 15 years or ago, I was with my sister at a Suzuki dealership, helping my sister look at new cars. She was interested in the Suzuki Swift.
At the time the Suzuki Kizashi was brand new, and displayed prominently in the showroom. I didn't know much about it but I liked the appearance and general trim. It was certainly no sports car, but seemed like a capable little runabout for getting around town.

We took the Swift for a test drive, my sister and the salesman in the front and me in the back.
Up to this point he seemed pretty pleasant. Friendly and jovial, without being too pushy. He seemed to want to let us make up our own mind, and even suggested we take it I to the freeway through the hills to get a real sense of how it handles. From all the slimy sales people I'd been dealing with, this guy seemed pretty genuine.
After a lot of idle chit chat through the hills, I mentioned that I didn't mind the look of the Kizashi. Without skipping a beat, the salesman blabbed "Oh yeah, they're great. You know that car broke the land speed record?"
There was a couple of seconds of stunned silence in the car before I realised I couldn't let him leave that one down.
"Really", I said. "Where?"
"In salt flats in America" he replied casually.
"In a two litre, front wheel drive?"
"Yeah…” he replied, uncomfortably.
"Surely it was modified?"
“Yeah... a bit..."
The drive back to the dealership was pretty quiet from then on. I knew I couldn't take anything he said seriously, and he knew he'd said something absurd that had lost what little trust I had in him.
Fast forward about 10 years, and I relayed this story on a ‘When has a salesman talked himself right out of a sale’ post on Reddit.
It didn't take long for someone to point out that in fact, a Suzuki Kizashi did, in-fact, break the land speed record, on the very same Bonneville salt flats we are (presumably) headed to now!
