...This plays havoc with my ‘swap all the mods on cars between races’ tactic.

Well, at least we can say she’s got good taste. I guess that’s The Power Of Love.

Unfortunately, like all the other bosses, Celine has three cronies we have to defeat before we get the chance to race her.

There’s a Lambo, a Landrover and the…. maybe Jimny / Truck? thing?… Je Sais Pas.

Right away, I’m reminded of just how hard ice races are. It’s All Coming Back To Me Now.

The car really struggles to get any traction, even with the studded tyres, and it becomes a repeated game of work out the right RPM to hit when changing gears, whether to feather or hammer the throttle and which gear to start in.

I tried this race several times, with the MR2, the Jimny and the GTR - and they all are completely different. The Jimny has great traction across the RPM range but isn’t fast enough. The MR2 I really struggled to get any traction at all and had to shift super early. The GTR I’d lose traction at higher revs. I had to figure out a different tactic for each car... All By Myself.

All in all, it’s actually pretty neat they modeled this variety in, given the first game was pretty much just always hammer the throttle and shift at the right time..

With lots of futzing around, I managed to defeat the three cronies…
