Ok! After careful consideration of all the suggested names, I've chosen the name… ‘Sunny’.... It feels appropriate to the lineage of the car.

Now, let's go to the Circuit!

Time to square up against our latest nemesis, that Porche 911 Whale Tail that we were unable to defeat in the Noisy Cricket…

Notice that our car interior is different now. I had assumed earlier this sprite would be the same for all cars to save developer costs, and indeed at first I thought all they had done was swap out the steering wheel with the iconic GTi-R red badge.

But looking closer, I saw the three dials on the centre console and realised it's a whole new interior. Looking at photos of the Jimny and GTI-R interiors confirmed to me that they've taken the time to actually replicate the original car.

Boy, the things you can do with SUPER CD ROM storage capacity nowadays…

I also only just realised looking at these screenshots now that the tacho and speed gauge work on the dash as well. Neat!

And I know this doesn't mean shit these days when car sims will accurately simulate exhaust steam on a cold start during a winter morning, or the varying viscosity of engine oils, but in 1993 this was pretty cool!

Anyway, let’s see what this baby is like on the track!

...And we're off!

...Damn!

Well, looks like in stock form, Sunny doesn't quite hold up against the Porche.

…Yet.

Luckily we've got a quite a bit of a slush fund for mods, because this thing was so cheap.

But we don't even need to spend too much yet, because we can actually raid the Noisy Cricket for parts!

Just like that, I've taken the turbos, intercooler, slick tyres, 4 speed gearbox off the Jimny and placed them on the GTi-R.

If only mechanic work was this easy and parts were this interchangeable in real life…

The Nosy Cricket retains all the tuning work that was done to her engine, so we'll still need to redo that on the GTi-R.

With such a large amount of left over cash, I've asked Shifty to give her the works. No amount of boat polish spared. But no earplugs, please and thank-you.

: Look, it’s a Weird CD4. Only $100. What do you think? Would you like to buy it?

...Weird CD4? Ok, sure, why not. As mentioned, these change the background music of the race. I’ll dub the music over the next race, so you can all hear this masterpiece…

Let's look at Sunny's Leperflesh chart now!

Phhhoooaaahhhh - 328 horses in a tiny little < 1200kg package. This thing is going to fly!

We heard the story of how these performed in WRC. Hope that cramped little engine bay can keep up with all this extra generated heat…

Off to the Circuit!

And if it it isn't our old friend, Mr Whale Tail… Let's see you take our 250 dollars this time…
