Alright, it's time to check out our new wheels!

Like many of these cars, The GTi-R started its civilian life thanks to motorsport Homogolation.
With the shutting down of Group B racing (aka the one where manufacturers were making batshit insane custom built deathtraps), and the introduction of Group A (where the custom insane deathtraps needed to at least maintain a veneer of being based on a production car and sold to the public), Nissan needed something to compete with the Toyota Celica GT Four and Lancia Delta Integrales of the world.
And that answer was the Pulsar GTi-R, or 'Baby Godzilla' as it would come to be known.

Based on the chassis of the humble Pulsar / Sunny, Nissan slapped in the ATTESA AWD drivetrain the Skyline was becoming famous for and dropped in the SR20DET Turbo 2 litre engine, which is most infamous for being in the later model Silvia / 180sx K's and a engine with excellent tuning potential.

What resulted was the nuggiest of beasty little nuggets, with a peak output of 227hp at 4800 rpm.
Stock, these things were doing 0-100 in 5 seconds, which in those days, were exotic car numbers.
These cars are surprisingly less known than the other JDM heros of the era, despite their crazy capability, never seeming the same attention or reputation. Maybe it's because they didn't make many of them, or maybe it's just from being associated with a capable, but pedestrian road car.

Unfortunately it didn't have the same success in Rally that the Skyline was having in circuit racing, causing Nissan to drop out of Rallying altogether.
But their losses are our gain, because this car is seriously cheap for what it is.
It's one of the best power to weight cars here, and it's about 60% of the cost of the Z32 or RX7. And whilst it's certainly not as beautiful as those cars, it will definitely be as competitive with some mild tuning.
Oh, and I can't leave without telling the story of how we negotiated a discount for this beast.
Like before, it gave us the options of Threaten, Flatter and Crying to see if we could get Shifty to drop the price.
This time around, this was the result of Hiro's attempt to Flatter him:
