What does that mean, you ask? Well. This one took some digging.

So apparently there was a Russian gymnast in the 1960s, named Comaneci.

Japan uses hard k’ and ‘ch’ sounds in place of c’ words in their alphabet. So ‘Ko-ma-ne-chi’ tracks with a literal translation of the characters in ‘Comaneci’.

Somehow or rather, I guess in the 1980s, this gymnasts poses inspired a early ‘meme’ of some vulgar dance moves, popularised by Beat Takeshi.

This is still prevalent in 2025 apparently, as I've been able to find references to it online.
